About

A magazine for a sustainable Austria

Option Magazin reports on what sustainable living in Austria means in practice: climate and the environment, mobility and energy, education, work and conscious consumption. We write for people who want to know what is changing – and what they can do themselves.

Our English edition

The magazine is written in German and translated into English by our newsroom for internationals living in Austria and readers abroad. Every English article mirrors its German original – same facts, same sources, same authors. If in doubt, the German version is authoritative.

Our approach

We work journalistically and fact-first. To us, sustainability is not a moral programme but a practical topic that affects everyone. We explain context, put numbers in perspective and name open questions without lecturing. Where we rely on data, we name the source – the Umweltbundesamt (federal environment agency), Statistik Austria and other specialist institutions.

Publisher and independence

Option Magazin is published by Go To Agency SAS. We keep a clear line between editorial and paid content: paid articles are always labelled as sponsored (German: Anzeige).

A note on the domain's history: option-news.at is operated independently today. The magazine has no connection to the former Option Österreich and uses none of its content.

The newsroom
Editor

Johanna Pichler covers sustainability and conscious consumption for Option Magazin. Her drive is translation work: turning big climate targets and EU rules into concrete steps that actually work in an Austrian household. She would rather do her research at the supermarket checkout or the repair café than at a conference table – and she ranks advice by real impact, not symbolism.

Freelance writer

Daniel Aigner is a freelance journalist focused on energy, mobility and technology. Before writing, he worked as a technical editor – and it shows in his explainers: he takes apart subsidy schemes, heat pumps and electricity markets until a comprehensible calculation is left on the table. Where others see a headline, he looks for the number behind it.

Editor · Managing editor

Clara Wieser is responsible for education, cities and society at Option Magazin and coordinates the newsroom as managing editor. She is interested in the gap between ambition and reality – in where well-meant concepts hit their limits in real life. Her pieces aim to explain, not lecture, and they leave room for uncomfortable questions.
